DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Loras College men's basketball team bounced back in a big way on Sunday afternoon, rolling past Kalamazoo College 105-52 inside the Lillis Athletic & Wellness Center.
The win moves the Duhawks to 1-1 on the young season and showcased the team's balance, tempo, and three-point firepower from start to finish.
Loras came out strong defensively and never trailed, forcing 26 Hornet turnovers and converting them into 31 points on the other end.
The Duhawks led 42-22 at the half before erupting for 63 second-half points while shooting 56 percent (22-of-39) from the floor in the final 20 minutes. In total, 16 players found the scoring column, highlighting the team's depth and pace.
Emmett Loew led the way with a team-best 19 points, knocking down 5-of-10 from beyond the arc.
Jack Haynes was a force around the rim, posting 17 points and seven rebounds, while
Nolan Berendes added 15 points on five three-pointers.
Kyle Kober had nine points, six assists, and four rebounds, and the Loras bench contributed 43 points overall, including eight points from
Dylan Kurt and five each from
Brock Massey and
Patrick Coen, who also hauled in six rebounds.
 Loras finished the day shooting 49.4 percent (38-77) from the field and 35.9 percent (14-39) from three, while holding Kalamazoo (0-2 overall, 0-0 MIAA) to just 27.7 percent shooting. The Duhawks also dominated the glass with 42-30 rebounding advantage and controlled the fast-break game with 25 transition points.
Up Next: Loras returns to action on Friday, Nov. 14 when they head on the road to play Blackburn College. Action is set to start at 6 p.m.
