DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College women's wrestling team came up short in a 30–20 home dual against Cornell College on Thursday evening inside the Fieldhouse.
The Duhawks opened with a 10–0 lead as Cornell forfeited the 103- and 110-pound bouts, giving wins to
Kylie Loffer and
Emely Mejia. The Rams responded with forfeits at 117 and 124 pounds, evening the score at 10–10.
The first contested match came at 131 pounds, where
Alyssa Seippel earned the victory after Cornell's Rylie Donahue was forced to withdraw due to injury, putting Loras back in front, 15–10.
Grace Patterson secured Loras' only other contested win of the night, pinning Eleanor Gnida in 39 seconds to extend the lead to 20–10.
Cornell took control from there, winning the final four bouts. Jasmine McCaskel claimed a forfeit at 145 pounds, followed by pins from Olivia Cotton over Izzy Peters in 50 seconds and Sidney Zimmerman over
Lucy Read, in 56 seconds. Hailey Pfab sealed the dual for the Rams with a win by default, closing out the 30–20 result.
