Men's Basketball Takes Down Wartburg, 91-79, to Remain Undefeated in Conference Play

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College men's basketball team wrapped up its 2025 conference schedule with a 91-79 win over Wartburg College on Saturday afternoon inside the Lillis Athletic & Wellness Center.

The Duhawks broke the fourth and final tie of the first half (14-14) with a 6-0 run to take a 20-14 lead with 8:43 remaining. Loras (7-1, 3-0 A-R-C) held a 35-31 advantage over the Knights at the half.

Warburg (7-2, 2-1) started the second half strong, outscoring the Duhawks 12-7 in the first five minutes of play to take a brief 43-42 lead. However, the Purple and Gold regained control of the contest, leading by as many as 17 with just under three minutes remaining following a three-pointer from Gavin Sarvis. Loras avenged the A-R-C Tournament Quarterfinal loss from last season with the 91-79 win in front of its home crowd.

Sarvis led all-scorers with 24 points, shooting 9-of-14 from the field and 3-of-5 from three. Dylan Kurt and Kyle Kober added in 15 and 14 points respectively, while Nolan Berendes totaled 13 points and 10 rebounds to earn his second double-double of the season. As a team, Loras shot 50.0 percent (30-of-60) from the floor and 40.7 percent (11-of-27) from downtown.

Cael Schramm led the way for the Knights on both sides of the floor, finishing the night with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Gabe Trujillo and Austin Bienemann contributed 13 and 11 points respectively, while Ethan Yungtum rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points and 11 boards. As a team, Wartburg shot 43.3 percent (26-of-60) from the field and just 22.2 percent (4-of-18) from behind the arc.
