DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College men's basketball team suffered a 97-88 loss to Lake Forest College on Tuesday afternoon inside the Lillis Athletic and Wellness Center.
Luke Arington scored the contest's first six points to help Lake Forest (6-5, 1-1 MWC) secure its second win of the Loras Holiday Classic. The Foresters led by as many as 15 (29-14) with 9:41 remaining in the opening half, but the Duhawks used a 19-4 run to tie the score up at 33-33. Loras (8-3, 3-0 A-R-C) trailed 45-42 heading into the break.
The visitors never relinquished the lead, maintaining at least a two-point advantage over the course of the second half.
Deng Makeer led the way for the Duhawks with 18 points, shooting 6-of-12 from the floor and 4-of-10 from behind the arc.
Kyle Kober and
Jack Haynes finished with 15 points apiece, while
Nolan Berendes and
Johnny Semany rounded out the double-digit scorers for Loras with 12 and 11 points respectively. As a team, Loras shot 40 percent (30-of-75) from the field and 78.3 percent (18-of-23) from the foul line.
Alex Forowycz paced the Foresters with a game-high 35 points. Cristian Rodriguez added in 14 points, while Arington chipped in 11. Coltrane Marchand and Marko Visnjevac totaled 10 points apiece as well in the win. As a team, Lake Forest shot 52.2 percent (24-of-46) from the floor and 90.9 percent (40-of-44) from the charity stripe.
