LINCOLN, Neb. – The Loras College women's basketball team earned a 65-48 win over Nebraska Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon inside Synder Arena.
Loras (8-11, 5-5) controlled the game from the start, outscoring Nebraska Wesleyan (1-19, 0-11) in every quarter. The Duhawks built an early lead with a 19-11 first quarter and never looked back.
The Purple and Gold dominated inside, scoring 34 points in the paint and forcing 18 turnovers. The Prairie Wolves would attempt to chip away at the lead by way of Brynn Sebek's three-point shooting, but Loras closed out the game with a steady 16-13 fourth quarter.
Leading the way for the Duhawks came by way of
Silvana Scarsella as she recorded a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds in addition to six rebounds.
Emerson Whittenbaugh added 13 points and secured five rebounds, along with three steals and a pair of assists, while
Ashtyn Kelderman chipped in 10 points off the bench for Loras while also grabbing four rebounds, two assists and two steals. As a team Loras shot 41.4 (24-58) percent from the floor and 73.3 (11-15) percent from the free throw line.
The Prairie Wolves were led by Sebek, who earned 15 points, all from beyond the arc. Maddie Demke contributed 13 points, six rebounds, while also adding three steals and four assists. The home team shot 34.7 (17-49) percent from the field and 58.3 (7-12) percent from the charity stripe.
