Duhawks Dominate UD in Crosstown Rivalry

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Loras College men's wrestling team delivered a dominant performance tonight against crosstown rival, the University of Dubuque, 35-7, in a conference showdown. The Duhawks won 8-of-10 bouts, racking up three technical falls, two major decisions, and a pin on this special night as they celebrated Senior Night, along with honoring former Duhawk wrestler Brice Everson.

Connor Fiser set the tone early at 125 pounds, delivering a commanding 21-6 technical fall. Senior Aiden Evans (133 lbs) followed up with another tech fall, 16-0.

At 141 lbs, senior Kolten Crawford battled to a 4-2 decision, extending Loras' lead. The momentum continued for the Purple and Gold as Chase Fiser (149 lbs) controlled the action and scored a last-second takedown to secure a 10-2 major decision.

The highlight of the night came at 157 pounds when Eric Kinkaid wasted no time, grabbing a first-period pin in just 1:44. The bonus-point victories continued for the Duhawks, with Dustin Bohren (165 lbs) rolling to an 11-1 major decision.

Loras kept its foot on the gas at 174 lbs, where senior Zeb Gnida dominated with a 21-5 technical fall. Landry Barker (184 lbs) added to the shutout effort, earning a 4-0 decision.

The Spartans finally got on the board at 197 lbs as they picked up an 8-0 major decision. They added three more points at heavyweight in a 2-1 tiebreaker victory to end the night.

The Duhawks wrap up their regular season next Friday, Feb. 14 as they travel to Waverly, Iowa to take on another conference rival, Wartburg College. Wrestling is set to begin at 7 p.m.
