Duhawks Qualify Seven for Nationals

March 1, 2025

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Loras College men's wrestling team put on an impressive performance this weekend in Cedar Rapids at the NCAA Division III Region VI Wrestling Regional. Led by three champions, the Duhawks had all 10 wrestlers place and qualified seven for nationals.

At 157 pounds, Eric Kinkaid dominated the competition, capturing the title with a series of commanding victories, including a tech fall and a pin. Kinkaid capped off his impressive run with an 11-4 decision in the finals.

Dustin Bohren (165 lbs) matched Kinkaid's dominance, securing victories in all four matches, including two pins. Bohren claimed the title with a hard-fought 6-3 decision in the finals.

At 174 pounds, Zeb Gnida completed Loras' trio of champions, powering through three matches with a tech fall and a decisive semifinal win. Gnida earned his championship with a takedown during sudden victory in the finals.

Chase Fiser (149 lbs) delivered a strong showing, reaching the finals after a commanding semifinal win. Though he fell short in the championship match, his runner-up finish solidified his place at nationals for the first time in his career.

Connor Fiser (125 lbs), Aiden Evans (133 lbs), and Jalen Schropp (141 lbs) battled through the consolations to earn third-place finishes and national qualifier status. Fiser and Evans each secured crucial victories in their third-place matches, with Schropp avenging an earlier loss in the tournament by defeating his opponent.

Jonah Clark (4th- Hwt), Landry Barker (7th- 184 lbs), and Alex Watson (8th- 197 lbs) finished on the podium as well.

As a team, the Purple and Gold finished as runner-ups with 162.5 points, just behind first-place Wartburg College with 169 points.

The Duhawks seek to end the season on a high note while they prepare for the NCAA Championships, held in Providence, R.I. beginning on Friday, March 15. Wrestling is set to begin at 9 a.m.
