Kinkaid, Gnida Earn All-American Honors at Nationals

March 16, 2025

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Loras College men's wrestling team wrapped up its 2024-25 season this past weekend at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships in Providence, R.I., highlighted by All-American performances from junior Eric Kinkaid (157 lbs) and senior Zeb Gnida (174 lbs), who both secured podium finishes. Kinkaid fought to claim third place, while Gnida earned a seventh place finish.

Kinkaid displayed his dominance early in the tournament, securing a first-round victory with a 7-2 decision. He followed that up with an impressive 17-1 tech fall in the second round, before collecting a pin over the No. 5 seed in the quarterfinals.

Kinkaid's title run ended in a razor-thin semifinal match against the No. 1 seed in a 1-0 decision. However, he rebounded in the consolation semifinals with a hard-fought 4-3 decision over the No. 2 seed, setting up a rematch with his opponent from the quarters for third place. In another close bout, Kinkaid prevailed again with a 4-3 decision to win bronze.

Gnida also had an impressive showing, starting his tournament with a 4-3 decision, before earning an 8-5 sudden victory win in the second round. Gnida's run on the front side ended in the quarterfinals with an 8-2 loss to the No. 7 seed.

Determined to finish on the podium, Gnida picked up a key 9-2 victory in the blood round to secure All-American honors. However, a narrow 6-4 decision loss in the consolation quarterfinals sent him to the seventh-place match. Yet, Gnida finished on a high note, dominating the No. 8 seed, 17-1, to end his remarkable career with a win.

The Duhawks were also well represented by their five other national qualifiers. Brothers Connor (125 lbs) and Chase Fiser (149 lbs) made their national tournament debuts together, an incredible milestone for the duo. Seniors Jalen Schropp (141 lbs) and Aiden Evans (133 lbs) closed out their Loras wrestling careers by leaving everything on the mat, exhibiting their leadership and determination in one final run. Dustin Bohren (165 lbs) also put up a strong effort, competing with grit in a tough bracket.

As a team, the Purple and Gold finished in 16th place with 27 points, concluding the season inside the top 20.
