PELLA, Iowa – The Loras College men's tennis team saw its 2024-25 season end Tuesday afternoon with a 4-2 loss to third-seeded Coe College in the American Rivers Conference Tournament quarterfinals at the Central Tennis Courts.
In doubles competition, Lucas Healy and Sean Sonoiki fell 6-0 to Jack Briggs and Benny Ramker at the No. 2 position. At No. 1 doubles, Diego Mejias and Gage Becker battled but ultimately lost 6-4 to Ayden Fletcher and AJ Wilkins. With two victories, the Kohawks secured the doubles point, and the No. 3 doubles match was left unfinished.
In singles play, Wilkins defeated Samuel Canas Guerrero 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 3 spot, while Ramker topped Healy 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4. The Duhawks' two points came from wins by Sonoiki at No. 5, who beat Alex Slaymaker 6-2, 6-3, and Mejias at No. 1, who downed Fletcher 6-2, 6-1.
The final match of the day came at No. 6 singles, where Andrew Day was edged by Ernest Alvarez Chezdoy 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
