NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Five members of the Loras College men's volleyball program were awarded All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin accolades on Tuesday morning.
Corey Mayotte and
Evan Dziadkowiec headlined the Loras honorees as they were named Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year and First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year respectively.
Mayotte is a four-time All-Conference recipient, earning the Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year distinction for the second consecutive year. The Geneva, Ill. native garnered five Hitter of the Week awards over the course of the season after leading the conference in kills/set (5.35), points/set (6.03) and service aces/set (0.49) for a majority of the year. The three-time First-Team All-Conference selection also sits atop the national leaderboard in kills/set and points/set.
Dziadkowiec made himself a household name after his performance during his freshman campaign. The Lockport, Ill. native garnered First-Team All-Conference honors after leading the league in assists/set (10.96) and grabbing two conference Setter of the Week awards throughout the season. The First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year also ranks first nationally in assists/set.
Nolan Krygsheld and
Roman Rothermel secured spots on the Second-Team All-Conference for the first time in their careers after standout junior and sophomore seasons respectively. Krygsheld averaged 2.63 kills/set, which ranked ninth in the CCIW, and 2.23 digs/set, which ranked fifth in league, during his first season with the Duhawks. The Monee, Ill. native also broke into the conference's top 10, averaging 3.12 points/set (8
th). Rothermel ranked second in the league in both hitting percentage (.439) and blocks/set (0.90). The Menomonee Falls, Wis. native also claimed two Defensive Player of the Week awards during his sophomore campaign.
Ryan Floyd, a senior setter from Elgin, Ill., was named Loras' CCIW RESPECT award winner. He ranks second on the team in assists with 55, averaging 1.10 per set.
Each CCIW school selects a RESPECT Award recipient that has distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration and Trust.
The Duhawks welcome the third-seeded North Central College Cardinals to Lillis Court for a CCIW Tournament Semifinal on Wednesday, April 9. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
