DUBUQUE, Iowa – Four student-athletes from the Loras College softball team have earned spots on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, as announced in the organization's official release on Tuesday.
Ava Franklin,
Whitney Leipold,
Morgan Machovec, and
Rachel Peat were all recognized. Franklin and Peat earned their first All-District selection while Machovec and Leipold are earning their second and third selection, respectively.
Across the American Rivers Conference, a total of 40 softball players were named to this year's Academic All-District teams.
The CSC Academic All-District® Softball Team honors outstanding student-athletes who excel both on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program further distinguishes honorees across four divisions—NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
To qualify for Academic All-District recognition, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale), and must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. Additionally, nominees must have completed at least one full academic year at their institution and hold sophomore athletic and academic eligibility.
