MEQUON, Wis. – The Loras College women's soccer team secured its second win of the season Wednesday, defeating Concordia University Wisconsin 4-1 in a dominant performance.
The Duhawks controlled the match from start to finish, outshooting the Falcons 32-1, including 17 shots on goal.
Belle Johnson opened the scoring in the 18th minute, finishing off an assist from
Kaitlin Glenn. Ten minutes later,
Emerson Gasmann doubled the lead with a goal assisted by
Allie Stubbendick, giving Loras (2-0-1) a 2-0 advantage at halftime.
The Duhawks extended their lead early in the second half as Johnson netted her second of the game, again assisted by Glenn.
Chiara DiVito added her first goal of the season in the 58th minute off a throw in from
Bella Scesniak to push the lead to 4-0.
Concordia Wisconsin (0-1-3) broke through in the 65th minute when Lanie Czerkies scored, but the Falcons' lone shot of the game wasn't enough to overcome Loras' relentless attack.
Hannah Fedinec and
Makenna Harvey limited the Falcons to one goal, while their counterpart Kara Claussner was forced to make 13 saves under heavy pressure.
Up next: The Purple and Gold travel to Northfield, Minn., on Saturday, Sept. 13, to face Carleton College. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
