NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Loras College women's soccer team earned a 2-0 win over No. 16 Carleton College on Saturday afternoon at Bell Field, handing the Knights their first loss of the season.
The matchup remained scoreless for nearly the entire first half as both defenses held firm. In the 44th minute, freshman forward
Emily Bowe broke through, pouncing on a rebound after Knights goalkeeper Avery Trapp tipped a long free kick from
Gracie Gasmann off the crossbar. Bowe redirected the loose ball into the net to give Loras (3-0-1) a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Carleton (3-1-1) came out firing in the second half, outshooting Loras 10-3, but the Knights could not find an equalizer despite creating chances.
The Duhawks added breathing room in the 78th minute, once again through Bowe. Off a corner from
Gracie Gasmann, Bowe unleashed a shot that struck the underside of the crossbar and into the net securing the victory for Loras.
Goalkeeper
Hannah Fedinec and the Duhawk back line anchored the shutout, with Fedinec making two saves to notch her third clean sheet of the season.
