DUBUQUE, Iowa — The No. 25 Loras College women's soccer team extended its unbeaten start with a 1-0 win over UC Santa Cruz on Thursday afternoon at the Rock Bowl.
Loras (4-0-1) finally broke through in the 87th minute when
Mayte Navejas scored her first career goal off an assist from
Bella Scesniak.
Loras controlled the match from start to finish, outshooting the Banana Slugs 25-6 and forcing goalkeeper Ainsley Gove into 11 saves. The Duhawks put 12 shots on goal and earned five corner kicks, while UC Santa Cruz (2-4-1) managed just three shots on frame.
