MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – The Loras College men's tennis team wrapped up three straight days of competition at the Cornell Invite on Sunday.
In Flight A Singles,
Gage Becker defeated Central Colleges Zachary Ong, 6-0, 6-4, for his first win of the day.
Jaimes Palmer was the second Duhawk to get a win in Flight A, winning 5-3, 4-0, over Alex Slaymaker.
In Flight B Singles,
Lucas Healy was victorious over Gavin Jablonski of Central, 3-6, 7-5, 10-4. Moving to Flight C, Andrew day went 2-0 with wins over Mills Arnold, 4-0, 5-3, and Nile Christensen, 6-2, 6-4.
Horia Popa was a winner in Flight D Singles, winning his match 4-1, 4-1, while
Jackson Craig,
Jack Seda, and
Jimmy Krcmarik were all victorious in Flight E.
Charlie Dobbs and
Luke Gogolewski both got wins in Flight F with Dobbs winning 6-2, 6-4, and Gogolewski defeating his opponent, 6-3, 6-2. Day moved to 2-0 in singles play with a win over Alexander Sedlacek from University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, 4-2, 3-5, 10-2 in round 2.
In Flight A Doubles, Palmer and Becker were winners, 6-3, in round one before falling in round two. In Flight B,
Dali Martens and
Hayden Martins got a round one win before also falling in round two.
The duo of
Nick Carney and
Sean Sonoiki went 2-0 in Flight C with wins over Christensen and Gavin Jablonski from Central College and Drew Campbell and Ong.
The team of Craig and Krcmarik were winners in Flight D, 6-4, and Day and Popa were also winners, defeating their opponents, 6-3.
