WAVERLY, Iowa- After two days of competition, the Loras College men's tennis team wrapped up play at the American Rivers Conference Individual Tournament, hosted at Wartburg College.
In Flight A singles,
Jaimes Palmer and
Gage Becker dropped their opening round matchups, while Samuel Canas Guerrero,
Lucas Healy, and
Dali Martens experienced the same fate in Flight B singles.
Sean Sonoiki was the lone Duhawk winner in flight B, winning 4-1, 1-4 (10-7), in the opening round, before defeating Milan Lecic, 5-4, 4-2, in the round of 16 before losing in the quarterfinal.
In Flight C singles,
Nick Carney got an opening round win, before losing in the quarterfinals 5-4, 4-1. After a first-round bye,
Jimmy Krcmarik defeated Donovan Klish, 4-1, 4-1 in the second round to set up a quarterfinal match with teammate
Horia Popa, who got a round of 16 win after receiving a bye of his own. In the quarterfinal matchup between the two Duhawks, Popa came out on top with a 4-2, 5-3 victory. Popa would later fall in the final, 5-4, 4-1, for a second-place finish.
In Flight D,
Luis Garcia put together a run to the quarterfinals before falling 5-4, 4-2 to Hinata Hayashi. In Flight E,
Luke Gogolewski defeated Zane Munfer, 4-0, 4-2, in the quarterfinal round. Gogolewski went on to win 5-3, 4-2, over Alexander Hardin to advance to the final. In the final, Gogolewski took the first set, 4-2, before winning the second set in a tiebreaker, 10-8, to win the flight E singles.

In Flight B doubles, the teams of Krcmarik and
Jackson Craig, and
Andrew Day and Popa, both made quarterfinal runs before falling 6-4 and 6-2, respectively. In Flight C doubles,
Jack Seda and
Diego Hernandez Arrazate won their round of 16 match, 7-5, after receiving a first-round bye. The duo of Garcia and
Charlie Dobbs got a round of 16 win after receiving a bye in round one. Both teams fell in their quarterfinal matches, 6-4 and 6-2, respectively.

Up Next: Loras will travel to St. Peter, Minn. for the ITA Regional Championships on Friday Sept. 26. The Duhawks will compete for three days while in Minnesota.
