DUBUQUE, Iowa – Just four days after knocking off Central College for the first time in program history, the Loras College men's tennis team once again took down the Dutch, 4-0, in the opening round of the American Rivers Conference Tournament.
In doubles play,
Dali Martens and
Jaimes Palmer got the first win of the night, taking down Ernest Alvarex Chedzoy, 6-1, at No. 2.
Abhyudit Nagar and Samuel Canas Guerrero cruised to their 6-1 win at No. 3 to secure the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead into singles.
Martens continued his solid night, earning the Duhawks first point in singles with his 6-3, 6-0 win over Alex Slaymaker at No. 2. Nagar kept the momentum in Loras' favor, defeating Quin Hukk 6-1, 6-2, at No. 5.
Andrew Day got to play hero at Tucker Tennis Courts. His 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6 over Hayden Sinclair secured the 4-0 sweep to send Loras to the A-R-C Semifinal round.
Up Next: Loras will head to Decorah, Iowa, on Thursday, April 30, to take on the No. 1seed Luther College Norse. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
