DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College men's and women's tennis teams were well represented this year across the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Academic Awards list.
The women's team earned ITA All-Academic Team honors and had eight athletes named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
Mary Breitbach is earning the award for the third time in her career, while
Alexis Tatum is being honored for the second straight year.
Lauren Keiper,
Brooke Burger,
Zara Stoltzfus,
Kaylee Mazur, and
Saydie Roling are all first-time recipients.
On the men's side, six athletes earned Scholar-Athlete honors.
Gage Becker is being recognized for the third time, while Samuel Canas Guerrero,
Jackson Craig,
Horia Popa, and
Jack Seda are earning the award for a second straight year, and
Andrew Day is earning the award for the first time.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements: have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements: have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
