FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The No. 24 Loras College women's soccer team scored four unanswered goals as they powered past Marian University 4-0 on Thursday evening at Smith Field.
The Duhawks struck twice late in the first half.
Emily Bowe opened the scoring in the 42nd minute off a setup from
Ciara Johnson, and just 25 seconds later
Belle Johnson doubled the lead with a strike into the upper right corner.
Loras (6-0-1) carried the momentum into the second half as
Kaitlin Glenn tallied back-to-back goals. She converted in the 49th minute off a feed from
Katie Callahan and added another three minutes later on a breakaway assisted by
Emerson Gasmann.
The Duhawks controlled the match, outshooting Marian (4-4-2) 12-3 and holding a 13-1 advantage in corner kicks. Goalkeepers
Hannah Fedinec and
Makenna Harvey combined for the shutout, with Harvey making one save in the closing minutes.
Up next: The Purple and Gold open conference play Saturday, Sept. 27, on the road at Nebraska Wesleyan. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
