Duhawks Place Fifth at National Duals

January 10, 2026

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Loras College men's wrestling team battled through five duals over two days at the NWCA Division III National Duals on Friday and Saturday in Cedar Falls, finishing the weekend with a 4-1 record and a fifth-place team finish.

The Duhawks opened the dual tournament with a decisive 31-10 victory over Castleton on Friday afternoon. Loras won seven of the 10 bouts, highlighted by falls from Eric Kinkaid (157 lbs) and Dustin Bohren (174 lbs), along with a tech fall from Chase Fiser at 149 lbs. Aidan Gruenenfelder (125 lbs), Braylon Griffiths (165 lbs), Landry Barker (184 lbs), and Boden Brokopp (Heavyweight) also earned wins.

Loras then faced TCNJ in the quarterfinals, but unfortunately came up just short in a tightly contested 22-18 loss. The Duhawks picked up key wins from Chase Fiser, Kinkaid, Barker, and heavyweight Jonah Clark, who secured a first-period fall to close the dual.

In the second round of consolations, the Duhawks rebounded with a dominant 33-9 win over the University of Chicago. Gruenenfelder, Kinkaid, Bohren, and Clark all earned tech falls, while Aaron Boone (141 lbs), Chase Fiser, Aiden Cartwright (165 lbs), and Barker added wins to help Loras pull away.

Loras continued its strong performance in the consolation semifinals, defeating Coe 29-10. Falls from Kinkaid and Bohren highlighted the dual, while Gruenenfelder and Brokopp both posted wins at the bookend weights. Connor Fiser (133 lbs), Owen Seffrood (149 lbs), and Barker also contributed victories as the Duhawks advanced to the fifth-place match.

In the fifth-place dual, Loras and UW-La Crosse finished tied 20-20 through all 10 bouts, with the Duhawks earning the win on criteria. Clark closed the dual with a 6-1 decision to even the team score, but Kinkaid's pin at 157 lbs proved to be the difference in the criteria tiebreaker. Earlier in the dual, Gruenenfelder recorded a tech fall, Connor Fiser earned a decision, and Bohren added a narrow 1-0 victory to help Loras secure the fifth-place finish.

Up Next: The Duhawks travel to Mount Vernon, Iowa for the Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 17. Wrestling is slated to start at 9 a.m.
