MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – Loras College women's wrestlers
Kylie Loffer and
Emely Mejia Garcia posted solid showings at the Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational, finishing sixth and seventh, respectively.
Competing at 103 pounds, Loffer dropped her first three matches, falling to Wartburg's Lainey Shelangoski 10-0 by technical fall in 1:54, Jacey Mason 10-0 by technical fall in 2:35, and Valerie Solorio 4-0 by fall in 11 seconds. She closed the day with a 5-0 decision over Illinois Wesleyan's Leslie Guzman.
Mejia Garcia, wrestling at 177 pounds, opened with a win by forfeit over Buena Vista's Harley Tobin. She then lost consecutive matches to Wartburg's Ava Gardner, 10-0 by technical fall in 2:28, and Ava Bayless, 10-0 by technical fall in 51 seconds.
Grace Patterson also rounded out Loras' performance with a win in her final match after two early losses. She fell to Iowa's Danni Swihart 6-0 by fall in 2:10 and Lilly Luft 12-0 by technical fall in 47 seconds before topping Central's Cameron Halbur 4-0 by fall in 1:40.
