DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Loras College Department of Athletics and Director of Athletics
Denise Udelhofen ('90) are excited to announce the new class of inductees into the Loras College Athletics Hall of Fame as five individuals will be recognized as part of the Class of 2026.
This year's class includes Dan Figura ('14 – Men's Soccer), Kaitlin Phillips ('16 – Women's Basketball), Kyle Calvert ('08 – Men's Track and Field), Dan Shey ('86 – Football), and Paul Meintzer ('69 – Wrestling)
Below is a closer look at each member of the 2026 Hall of Fame class:
Dan Figura, Men's Soccer – '14
Figura proved to be one of the best defensive players to wear the Purple and Gold.
The two-time All-American played in 76 games, including two Final Fours, and tallied six goals and four assists as a defender. The former team captain capped off his playing career with a Division III National Defender of the Year award, as well as an Iowa Conference Defensive Most Valuable Player award.
Following his career at Loras, Figura went on to play professionally in Australia for Mitchelton FC.
Kaitlin Phillips, Women's Basketball – '16
Phillips graduated from Loras as one of the most decorated players in Loras women's basketball history.
The three-year team captain finished her career ranking inside the top ten in most statistical categories. She is ninth all-time in scoring with 1,062 points, fourth in assists with 303, 10
th in made threes with 78, and ninth in single season assists. Phillips was a three-time IIAC All-Academic team member, COSIDA Academic All-District in 2016, a three-time IIAC First Team All-Conference selection, and participated in two Division III NCAA Tournaments. She was also named to the All-State WBCA Good Works Team, and was the only female Division III athlete named to the ten-person team.
Phillips graduated as part of the winningest class in program history at the time, going 67-41 over her four seasons.
Kyle Calvert, Men's Track and Field – '08
Calvert, a five-time All-American, made his presence known during his time as a Duhawk.
The 2008 NCAA Division III Indoor Men's Field Athlete of the Year (Central Division) finished his career with multiple conference championships in the pole vault. He finished as a three-time IIAC indoor conference champion and a two-time outdoor conference champion. He tallied eight, third, and third place finishes at indoor nationals, and placed seventh and second place at outdoor nationals.
Calvert still holds the school record in indoor pole vault with a mark of 5.20m, which is also the American Rivers Conference indoor record. He also holds the school record for outdoor pole vault with a mark of 5.19m.
Dan Shey, Football – '86
Earning the respect of all his teammates, Shey joins the Loras College Hall of Fame after a well accomplished four-year career on the gridiron.
The former team captain eared NAIA All-District honors as a senior and was also an All-American Honorable Mention at the linebacker position. Shey finished his playing career with a 28-12-3 record, which is the most wins in a four-year stretch in school history.
Paul Meintzer, Wrestling – '69
A true pioneer for Loras Wrestling, Meintzer set the standard on what it means to be a Duhawk wrestler.
Meintzer competed in 1968 NAIA Nationals in Omaha. Neb., becoming the first wrestler to travel to Nationals. There, he placed seventh in a 40-person field. Meintzer spent two and a half seasons with Loras, going 44-12, which is good enough for a .786 career winning percentage.
The 2026 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held Friday, Oct. 10 inside the Alumni Campus Center ballroom. A social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. with program set to begin at 6:15 p.m. The inductees will also be recognized during halftime of the Homecoming football game against Simpson College on Saturday, Oct. 11.
