DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College women's soccer team scored three times in the opening half, and controlled the match from start to finish in a 3-0 victory over St. Scholastica inside the Rock Bowl.
Loras applied pressure immediately.
Emily Bowe forced a save just 1:15 into the match before
Gracie Gasmann put another attempt on frame in the fifth minute. The breakthrough came at the 7:13 mark when Bowe finished a chance created by
Bella Scesniak and
Emerson Gasmann to give the Duhawks a 1-0 lead.
Exactly one minute later, the advantage doubled.
Emerson Gasmann picked up her second assist of the afternoon, setting up
Gracie Gasmann for a goal at to make it 2-0.
With just over a minute remaining before halftime, Loras added its third goal.
Hannah Lavender connected with Scesniak, who found the back of the net at 43:50 to send the Duhawks into the break with a 3-0 advantage. Loras finished the first half with 17 shots and six corner kicks, while holding the Saints without a single shot.
Offensively, Scesniak finished with a goal and an assist, while
Emerson Gasmann recorded two assists. Bowe and
Gracie Gasmann accounted for the other two goals, and Lavender added an assist.
Hannah Fedinec played all 90 minutes in goal, making one save and recording the clean sheet.
Up Next: The Duhawks return to the Rock Bowl tomorrow, Sept. 13 to face off against Viterbo University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
