DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Loras College women's soccer team used a pair of first-half goals and held off a second-half push from Viterbo University to earn a 2-1 victory Sunday afternoon inside the Rock Bowl.
The Duhawks were on the board first at the 10:53 mark when
Brooke Steffen found the back of the net off an assist from
Ciara Johnson, giving Loras an early 1-0 advantage.
Loras continued to create chances and earned consecutive corner kicks before the Duhawks benefited from an own goal in the 21
st minute to take a 2-0 lead.
The V-Hawks cut the lead in half in the 68
th minute when Kelcie Karweick scored off an assist from Ashlee Tupper.
Loras finished the afternoon with a 16-2 advantage in shots and an 8-2 edge in shots on goal. The Duhawks also held Viterbo without a corner kick.
Emerson Gasmann led Loras with four shots, placing three on goal, while
Gracie Gasmann finished with three shots, putting two on frame.
