September 16, 2026

Box Score

WAUKESHA, Wis. – A second-half goal from Matthew Fireng and a four-save shutout from Alexander Drexler lifted the Loras College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Carroll University Wednesday evening at Schneider Stadium.

Both sides generated opportunities in the opening half but entered the break scoreless. Gavin Pienkowski put Loras' first shot on goal in the fifth minute, while Drexler made his first save of the night in the 16th minute. Fireng provided a pair of chances just 10 seconds apart later in the half, but neither side was able to break through.

The breakthrough came midway through the second half. Christopher Hastert sent an attempt off the crossbar at the 62:15 mark, and Fireng capitalized immediately afterward to put the Duhawks ahead 1-0 with his first goal of the season.

Carroll made a late push for the equalizer, but Drexler came up with another key stop in the 83rd minute on a shot from Christian Meraz.

Loras finished the match with a 16-8 advantage in shots, including a 5-4 edge in shots on goal. Fireng led the attack with four shots and the game-winning goal, while Grandgeorge placed both of his attempts on frame. Drexler stopped all four Carroll shots on goal to earn the clean sheet.

Up Next: Loras will travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. On Sunday, Sept. 20, to take on Kalamazoo College. Kickoff from MacKenzie Field is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. eastern time.
