PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The Loras College men's soccer team erased an early deficit with a pair of first-half goals to earn a 2-1 road victory over the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Wednesday night at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
The Pioneers struck first in the 23rd minute, as Christian Gallt found the back of the net off an assist from Roberto Salinas to put UW-Platteville ahead 1-0.
Loras answered less than seven minutes later, when Jonathan Ademi provided the equalizer in the 30th minute, scoring his first goal of the contest to bring the Duhawks level at 1-1. Ademi finished the night with one goal on his lone shot.
The Duhawks completed the first-half comeback just before the break. In the 43rd minute, Ethan Barsch found the back of the net off an assist from Ian Giddings, giving Loras a 2-1 advantage heading into halftime. Barsch's goal proved to be the game-winner.
Loras continued to generate opportunities in the second half while protecting its one-goal lead. The Duhawks produced six shots and three corner kicks over the final 45 minutes, while holding the Pioneers to just two second-half shots.
Alexander Drexler helped preserve the advantage in goal, finishing the night with three saves while allowing just the one first-half goal. The Loras defense held UW-Platteville scoreless for the final 67-plus minutes of the contest.
