Helminiak, Giusto, and Leitzen Garner American Rivers Conference Athlete of the Week Honors

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Three Duhawks have earned American Rivers Conference Athlete of the Week honors, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

From football, Joey Helminiak is earning his first Offensive Athlete of the Week award following an impressive week one performance in the Duhawks 31-16 win over St. Olaf College. The senior from Dubuque, Iowa completed 21 of his 36 pass attempts, threw for 383 yards, which was the second most in all of Division III in week one, and accounted for four touchdowns, with three of them being through the air.

Daniel Giusto is earning Special Teams Athlete of the Week following his performance Saturday night. The Mokena, Ill. native punted four times, totaling 186 yards, which is good for a 46.5-yard average. He finished with two punts over 50 yards, including one inside the five-yard line to pin the Oles.

From cross country, Keelee Leitzen is picking up right where she left off last year, earning the first Athlete of the Week award in women's cross country this year. The reining A-R-C Individual Champion ran a time of 18:22.3 to set a new Bob Schultz Invite record, and a 5k time that ranks fourth all-time in Loras history.
