Loras College Athletics

Don Pirkle enters his 10th year as an assistant coach for Carl Tebon on the Loras Baseball staff in 2025.

Pirkle’s responsibilities include working with the infielders and hitters. A 2009 graduate of Loras College, he earned his bachelor’s degrees in teacher education and history. While at Loras, Pirkle was a four-year starter and second team All-Conference selection as a senior. He tied the Loras record for hits in a game with five against Coe College in the Iowa Conference Tournament in 2008.

Pirkle’s coaching experience includes stops at Marist High School in Chicago, Illinois, Wahlert Catholic and Hempstead High School. At Marist, Pirkle served as an assistant coach for both baseball and football. In addition to his responsibilities at Loras, Pirkle serves as the defensive coordinator at Hempstead.

A native of Frankfort, Ill., Pirkle now resides in Dubuque and works at Hempstead High School as a Special Education Teacher.
