Recruiting Areas: Central and Southern Illinois, Florida

Jon Powers, one of Duhawk Football’s most prolific all-time receivers, joined Loras' coaching staff as an assistant coach in 2017 coaching the running backs and has worked with the wide receivers since 2018.

In 2023, Powers helped take Da'Mani Brown's game to a new level, as the junior wideout scored a school-record 20 touchdowns and racked up 1,070 yards. Brown went on to earn First Team All-Conference honors and was named Third Team All-Region by D3football.com. Brown finished the year ranked third all-time in program history in yards (2,371), set a single game record in touchdowns (5), set single season records in receptions (83), touchdowns (20), and became the program's all-time leader in pass reception touchdowns (33).

In the fall of 2022, the receiving duo of Brown and Marty McGovern cemented their names in the Loras record books. The tandem finished fifth and seventh for single season receptions.

Powers coached two of the American Rivers Conference’s top wide receivers in Brad Boelkow and Sam Maloney in 2018; respectively finishing second and fourth in yards per game. Boelkow finished his career as the third all-time leader in yards.

In 2017, Powers coached the tight ends & hybrids to a very productive year. In 2017, the Duhawk offense averaged over 430 yards and 33 points per game. Hybrid, Mike Kuhn, was one of seven different Duhawks in double digits for receptions.

Playing from 2013-16 Powers concluded his Duhawk career as the single season record holder for receptions in a season with 82, a record that still holds. He sits at seventh all-time in yards with 1,574.

Powers, a Dubuque native, graduated from Senior High School in 2012 and completed his Loras College degree in Engineering in 2017
