Summary

Biography

There's no surprise knowing that in order to operate a successful athletic department, a motivated and dedicated support staff is required. While a faculty member in the accounting and business departments, Bob Pommerich ('59) volunteered for over 17 years in multiple roles to assist Loras student-athletes. While completing his undergraduate degree, Pommerich was a member of the men's basketball and men's tennis teams.

In 1991, Pommerich was one of 700 educators in America to receive the Sears Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership. Later, in 2002, he was recognized by Loras with the Distinguished Alumni Award.

Originally from Fond du Lac, Wis., Pommerich first came to Loras because of a letter he received from the head men's basketball coach at Loras, Vince Dowd. Now, over 60 years later, Pommerich is a staple in the Dubuque community.

"Bob has forever been involved in Loras Athletics as a student, professor in the classroom and into retirement," longtime Loras faculty member and hall of fame inductee Pat Flanagan ('63) said. "His attendance and support of all athletic programs at Loras is tremendous."
