Summary

Biography

During the days before the five-wide gunslinging offenses were customary, Jim Glunz ('85) made his mark on Loras College Football as a reliable, go-to receiver. With 149 career receptions and 2,160 receiving yards, Glunz averaged 14.5 yards per catch, which helped him earn NAIA All-District honors in 1984. His 21 touchdown receptions rank in the top-five all-time while his 126 points scored ranks in the top-10. When Glunz's days on the gridiron were complete, he left as the record holder for five marks including, receptions in a game, receptions by a freshman, receiving yards in a game, career receiving yards, and career receptions.

Since his graduation from Loras, Glunz has remained active and supportive as an alumnus. On numerous occasions, Glunz has hosted football alumni and coaches for tailgate events and social gatherings, while also donating money for the No. 1 locker in honor of his father, Jack Glunz ('57), and his brother, Jerry Glunz ('86).

"Jim had the ability to always get open by knowing the defensive coverage and what the defense would allow," former teammate and hall of fame quarterback Dave Dietz ('86) said. "Being the quarterback on the team, Jim was the receiver that I would look to first in crucial situations. Jim was a great value to all of us because he made us believe in ourselves and our team."
