Alex Sorenson

The 2024-25 season will mark Alex Sorenson's second season as an assistant coach to the Loras College men's basketball program.

Sorenson joined the Duhawks in 2023 by way of North Central College, where he earned his master's degree in Higher Education Leadership as a graduate assistant with the men's basketball program. He assisted the program with the development and facilitation of practice, game plans, game film, and opposing team scouting. Additionally, he developed skill-work sessions for the front court position group, which included a 2022-23 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin All-Conference selection.

Before he was a graduate assistant, Sorenson worked with the M14 Hoops Training Academy in Aurora, Ill., where he supported the program by scheduling tournaments and training sessions while assisting with recruiting and managing player and parent relationships.

Sorenson earned his bachelor's degree from North Central in 2018, where he was a three-year member of the varsity basketball team. Elected as a peer-captain twice with the Cardinals, Sorenson enjoyed a playing career that saw him accumulate per game averages of 17.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game en route to being named unanimous First-Team All-Conference three times and a 2017-18 Division III All-American. The Dunlap, Ill., native sits atop the record books for the most points scored in a single-game in North Central's history, having scored 54 against RMU-Chicago on Dec. 30, 2017.
