Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 14 Duhawks Cruise to 4-nil Victory Over Coe

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - With a 4-nil victory on Tuesday afternoon, the Loras men's soccer team defeated Coe College for the 20th consecutive outing. This streak dates back to 1989 and gives Loras (8-3-1, 4-0-0) a 21-2-1 all-time series record against the Kohawks (4-9-1, 1-3-0).

The Duhawks turned in an all-around solid performance and took all of the pressure off sophomore Adam Roloff in his first start of the season in goal. Thanks in part to Loras' stout defense, the Duhawks allowed just two shots with Roloff not needing to make a save on either occasion.

Neither team registered many shots on goal in the first half, but it only took one to count for the Duhawks. With just two shots on goal in the first half, the Duhawks looked to senior Jorge Simon to get things going in the 37th minute. From five yards outside of the box, the senior netted his third goal of the season, and second game-winning goal, on a free kick which he sent past the keeper's outstretched arms.

Loras wasted no time picking up where they left off at the beginning of the second-half, tallying two goals in the first six minutes of the period. In the 46th minute, Jacobi sent a beautiful cross into the box which senior Johnny Rummelhart promptly sent into the back of the net.

One of the keys to Loras' scoring in the second half was the play of junior Kyler Olson. Despite not registering any points on the night, Olson's play repeatedly put Coe on their heels and forced offensive pressure on the Kohawks.

Jacobi once again used his superior passing skills in the 51st minute to set up junior Alex Bradley for left-footed goal from the top of the 18.

To cap things off senior Nick Popa and junior Erik Ziolkowski each earned career-firsts with Popa notching his first career assist on Ziolkowski's first career goal off a corner in the 86th minute.

FRIEDMAN GROUP PLAYER OF THE GAME
Austin Jacobi | Jacobi delivered his first two assists of the season to open the second half, setting up Rummelhart and Bradley to push the Duhawk's lead to three.
