Women's Lacrosse | April 24, 2015

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras College Women's Lacrosse team closes out the 2015 season in Kansas City, Missouri with a non-conference bout with the Rockhurst Hawks at Bourke Stadium. In search of their first win since defeating Hanover, 9-8, on April 22, the Duhawks will look to close out the slate on a high note by adding to their record breaking season.

KULAS TURNS IN IMPRESSIVE WEEKEND IN ROCK BOWL
Earning a starting spot in Loras' past two games, freshman Katie Kulas turned in two of her best performances of the season. Scoring the first goal of her career on Saturday, Kulas bolstered her stat line with seven ground balls and five caused turnovers to lead the Duhawks' midfield.

STOMPANATO SCORES FIRST GOAL IN LOSS TO BENEDICTINE
A solid defender for Loras all season, freshman Nia Stompanato tallied the first goal of her career in Loras' loss to Benedictine on Sunday. Forcing a turnover and scooping up the ground ball, Stompanato ran coast-to-coast trampling through Benedictine's defense before burying a shot in the back of the net.

CLOSING OUT 2015 IN KANSAS CITY
Loras closes out the 2015 season in Kansas City, Missouri with a non-conference bout with the Rockhurst Hawks. Set to square off against a stout defense, the Duhawks' attack will have their work cut out for them while the defense will have to disrupt the fastbreak play of the Hawks to come away with a win in their season finale.

THIRD SEASON FULL OF RECORDS FOR LORAS
In their third season, the Loras College Women's Lacrosse team has soared to new heights, setting a plethora of program records. Perhaps the most noticed record broken is wins, notching four wins with one game to play, the Duhawks have topped Carroll, Cornell, Wilmington, and Hanover.  In addition to eclipsing the win record set a season ago, the Duhawks have displayed their most balanced attack to date. With a program-record 10 players finding the back of the net this season, Loras has had plenty of offensive weapons to balance the dynamic play of junior Kaitlyn Kutsch. Along with a balanced attack the Duhawks have brought a program-best assist game to their offensive sets. Kutsch accounted for a program-best seven assists as Loras set a program mark with 16 on season with seven different players contributing. Defensively, the Duhawks have recorded program bests in caused turnovers (158) and ground balls (292).

McGEE CONTINUES TO IMPROVE IN NET FOR DUHAWKS
Stepping into the starting role in her first season sporting the purple and gold, freshman Ashley McGee had high standards to live up to. As the season has played out McGee has exceeded expectations, turning in a strong freshman campaign. Earning the start in every game, McGee has tallied 128 saves, ranking her third in the MWLC and second in the program. Recording double-digit saves in five games, highlighted by a career-high 16 in Loras' loss to Augsburg, McGee owns a 4-11 record. With four wins on the year, McGee becomes the winningest goalkeeper in program history.
