Matt Dacy-Seijo led the Duhawks with 23 and 22 points, respectively, while Mathis also added 14 rebounds on the night.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
First Half
- After a CUW triple shot, the Falcons jumped out to an early eight-point lead at 17-9 with 15:47 remaining in the half.
- Loras went on a 8-0 run after back-to-back layups from senior Danny Quin and sophomore Ryan DiCanio after forcing two Falcon turnovers within a 30 second window.
- A deep jumper from Mathis at the 8:01 mark pulled the Duhawks within two at 32-30.
- CUW regained the lead with an 8-0 run as the Falcons converted on three Loras turnovers within one minute.
- The Duhawks pulled within four after Dacy-Seijo converted on a 3-pointer following a steal by senior Justin VanWambeke.
- A trey from sophomore Demond George pulled Loras within one point with less than a minute remaining in the half.
Second Half
- DiCanio got things started for the Duhawks in the second half with a shot from behind the arc, tying the game at 58 with 18:04 to play.
- A deep three from Dacy-Seijo on an assist by George pulled Loras to within three at 70-67 with 14:56 remaining in regulation.
- The Duhawks converted on a steal from George with a deep 3-pointer from Dacy-Seijo, assisted by Mathis for Loras' first lead of the night, 72-70.
- Strong defense from Mathis resulted in back-to-back steals for the senior, as he converted with two shots on the fast-break to put Loras up 99-97 with 1:48 remaining in regulation.
- With two seconds remaining in the half VanWambeke kicked out a pass to DiCanio on the wing for an open 3-pointer that the sophomore knocked down to put Loras up three at 102-99, lifting the Duhawks to victory.
