ALL-TIME SERIES: BELOIT
The last three meetings have proved to be victorious for the Buccaneers as they maintain a 3-0 record over the Duhawks.
LAST MEETING VERSUS BELOIT
In their 2015 meeting, the Duhawks let an offensive-heavy first half out of the Bucs dominate the game. Beloit ran out to a 10–2 lead at halftime. Despite two additional Duhawk goals, and holding Beloit to three goals in the second half, the early deficit was too much for Loras to overcome and fell by a final score of 13-4.
SCOUTING THE BUCS
After a successful 5-2 2015 conference campaign, the Bucs have faced adversity in 2016, resulting in a 2–9 record. With a 2-4 MWLC record, Beloit's wins have come against Cornell and Concordia University of Chicago. Coincidently, the Duhawks MWLC win have also come over Cornell and Concordia. Beloit's Libby Storrick has shown consistency in her efforts, leading the Bucs with 26 goals, eight assists and 21 caused turnovers.
DUHAWKS MAKING A NAME
Even with two games left to play, the Loras lacrosse team has already made a name for themselves this season. With the team's current 4–9 record, they are posting the best performance in the four-year history of the program. In the inaugural 2013 season, the Duhawks went 0–9 unable to secure a victory. Each season since has seen improvement as 2014 ended with a 3–13 record and 2015 with a 4–12 record. The success this season can be credited to a true team effort with players like Ashley McGee on defense and Kaitlin Kutsch on offense.
DEFENSIVE IMPACT
Freshman Martha Venchus has been key for for the Duhawks defensively. Her aggressive play style has allowed her to lead the team with 25 caused turnovers. She also is third in ground balls with 33. The past four games, Venchus has had at least four ground balls and three caused turnovers, so opposing teams have to be aware of her presence when they are in possession of the ball.
NELSON CAN'T BE STOPPED
Junior Hannah Nelson has been seen as a consistent and smart player while playing for the Duhawks. The junior tied season-high marks in goals and assists, bringing her season total to eight goals and five assists. Nelson also owns one of the highest shot on goal percentages on the team, targeting 13 of her 16 shots on frame. Nelson is ranked second on the team with 23 caused turnovers this season.
