DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's tennis team wrote the final chapter of the 2015–16 season on Sunday afternoon, defeating Wisconsin Lutheran 8-1. After a sweep of all three doubles matches, the Duhawks took five of six matches in singles play.
LORAS HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Sam Pietruszynski and freshman Marnie Ferguson put Loras on the board with their win at No. 3 doubles, winning 8–2. The duo raced out to a 5–0 lead in their first match as a pair.
- At No. 1 doubles, junior Jessica Dickhut and freshman Emma Cooke handled their opponents with ease, winning 8–3. Dickhut and Cooke improved to 7–2 this season in doubles.
- Sophomores Ayla Graziano and Rachael Molidor needed a tiebreaker to decide their match at No. 2 doubles, winning 9–8 (7–5). Graziano and Molidor raised their record to 5–2 in doubles play.
- Pietruszynski carried over her dominance in doubles to her singles match, winning easily at No. 3 singles, 6–0, 6–1. The sophomore now stands at 7–10 on the year.
- Dickhut clinched the win for Loras at No. 1 singles, defeating Paige Potaracke in straight sets, 6–3, 6–2. The Appleton native improved to 4–14 in singles play.
- Graziano made it 6–0 Loras with her win at No. 4 singles over Wisconsin Lutheran's Emily Boyd. The Slinger native won in straight sets, 7–5, 6–4. Graziano is now 10–8 this season.
- Loras suffered its first defeat of the day at No. 2 singles, despite winning the opening set, 6–0. Cooke took the early lead, but fell 6–2 in set two and dropped the tiebreaker, 10–7.
- At the No. 5 spot, Molidor claimed victory with a 6–4, 6–0 victory for her fifth win of the season.
- Ferguson earned her second win of the season in singles play at No. 6, 7–6 (7–4), 6–2.

Loras turns its attention to the postseason and will face Central in the first round of the Iowa Conference Tournament on Friday in Cedar Rapids.
