SERIES HISTORY: LUTHER
Luther owns the series history against Loras with a 43–13–1 record over their 29 years of competition. The Norse and Duhawks split in their first meeting in 1987 with Luther claiming the first game 2–1. Loras bounced back in game two, taking a 7–4 victory.
LAST MEETING VERSUS THE NORSE
In the 2015 season, Loras faced Luther in the Iowa Conference opener on Faber-Clark Field. The Norse took both games of the doubleheader by scores of 13–4 and 8–0. Luther utilized the long ball recording three homes runs while holding the Duhawks to zero. A combination of errors and being out-hit caused the Duhawks to drop the game.
SCOUTING THE NORSE
Luther sits atop the conference with a 9–1 record in the IIAC and 32–2 overall. The Norse post a .368 batting average compared to Loras' .319. They also lead the conference in RBIs (209) and hits (359). Luther has dominated on the mound as well, posting a 0.96 ERA as a team. Luther returns last season's Pitcher of the Year in Amanda Witzlib. She owns a 0.92 ERA has has held her opponents to a .142 batting average.
SERIES HISTORY: EDGEWOOD
Loras owns a 10–2 record over Edgewood all-time. The teams have met in six doubleheaders since 1991. The Duhawks swept Edgewood in the inaugural matchup, 6–5 in game one and 5–2 in game two.
LAST MEETING VERSUS THE EAGLES
Last season, the Duhawks swept Edgewood on the road, 5–1 in game one and 3–2 in game two.
Makaila Haase had an impressive game in the circle, throwing five strikeouts and inducing nine ground outs.
Regan Wolverton led Loras with three hits and a pair of RBIs while
Dani Stromert posted two hits and scored three runs.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Edgewood is 14–20 this season after a pair of losses in the last outing to MSOE. The Eagles are 3–8 on the road while the Duhawks are 7–7 at home. Jordan Anderson leads the team at the plate with a .433 batting average, 75 total bases and 33 RBIs. Rachel DeJongh leads the Eagles in the circle with a 3.93 ERA and 72 strikeouts.
SERIES HISTORY: COE
Coe owns a 32–11 record over Loras in the series history. The Duhawks collected the first two victories of the series with a sweep in the 1987 season. Loras topped the Kohawks 1–0 in game one and 8–7 in game two.
LAST MEETING VERSUS THE KOHAWKS
In the Duhawks' final matchup of 2015, Loras split with Coe on Faber-Clark Field. The Duhawks took game one 3–1, but fell 5–3 in game two. Despite Coe out-hitting Loras 5–4 in game one, the Duhawks were more effective at bringing their runners around to score while the Kohawks left six on base. Unfortunately, the loss in game two left Loras short of an Iowa Conference Tournament berth.
SCOUTING THE KOHAWKS
Coe is ranked fifth in the IIAC with a 6–6 record, 24–8 overall. As a team the Kohawks post a .493 slugging percentage and have recorded 245 runs, marks good enough to lead the conference. Coe and Loras are evenly matched with walks this season, tallying 114 and 112, respectively. While
Dani Stromert draws the most walks for the Duhawks, Coe has three players who consistently win the count. Allie O'Brien leads the Kohawks' offensively leading the conference with a .526 on base percentage. She also has a .433 batting average and has scored 33 runs.
POWERFUL AND EFFECTIVE
With no regard to her age, freshman
Megan Larson has powered her way through the Duhawk stat line in 2016. Larson is second on the team in home runs (4), third in hits (30), second in runs (21) and leads in doubles with nine. To round out Larson's strength behind the plate, she also leads the team with a .405 batting average.
KISTNER MAKING THE MOST OF SENIOR CAMPAIGN
Second baseman
Julie Kistner has had an impactful career as a Duhawk, culminating in a successful senior year campaign. In game two against Dubuque last week, Kistner led the team at the plate, going 2-for-3. At second base, Kistner recorded two putouts, including the game-ending double play and added a pair of assists.
FIELDING SUCCESS
The Duhawks have found success on defense this season with a strong core of starters. Combined, the starters post a .910 fielding percentage. The Duhawks have turned 13 double plays this year, averaging a double play every three games.
