DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's tennis team came from behind on Sunday afternoon to defeat St. Ambrose, 5-4, in non-conference action. Spearheaded by sophomore
Ayla Graziano's effort, the Duhawks took four of the six singles matches to edge the Bees, 5-4.
LORAS HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Emma Cooke and Graziano needed an extra set, but prevailed to win 9-7 at No. 2 Doubles.
- St. Ambrose took a 2-1 lead in the dual, winning at No. 1 and No. 3.
- Senior Jessica Dickhut defeated Mary Alice Oswalt of St. Ambrose at No. 2 Singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
- Cooke kept the train rolling, edging the Bees' Alex Horton at No. 3, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1).
- At the No. 4 spot, freshman McKenna Craff improved to 6-4 in her first season, defeating Sammy Carr, 6-2, 6-0.
- After dropping her first set to Sammy Carr, Graziano responded with a 7-5 win in set two before winning the tiebreaker, 10-7.
- Loras' last win over St. Ambrose came on April 19, 2016, a 5-4 win at home.

The Duhawks return to conference play this week with an important dual against their crosstown rivals, University of Dubuque. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. from the Bernie O'Connor Tennis Facility on the campus of Wahlert Catholic High School. All of Loras' home duals will be played at Wahlert Catholic while construction begins on the new tennis facility.
