MADISON, Wis. (Duhawks.com) - Loras women's tennis completed its first weekend of the season on top, topping Alverno on Sunday afternoon, 6-3.
Sophomore
Emma Cooke and freshman
McKenna Crafff grabbed the win at No. 2 doubles, defeating Michelle Alexander and Laeren Yates of Alverno, 8-1. Juniors
Ayla Graziano and
Rachael Molidor gave the Duhawks the advantage with their win at No. 3 doubles, 8-6.
After dropping matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, Loras took care of business, staking claim to victory at 3-6 singles. Cooke added a second win to her day's total at No. 3 singles, winning in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Craff followed suit, coming back from a 6-4 loss in set one to take set two, 6-1, and the tiebreaker, 10-7. Both Cooke and Craff are 3-0 this year in singles play.
Loras' match against Edgewood was halted due to darkness with the sides tied at 3-all. There have been no plans yet to complete the match.

Loras hosts the University of Dubuque on Wednesday evening with first serve scheuled for 4 p.m. All of the Duhawks' home matches will be played at Wahlert Catholic while renovations begin at Loras' courts.
