Men's Soccer Silences Storm

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras men's soccer team posted its third consecutive clean sheet on Sunday and moved to 7-5-0 with a 1-nil victory over Simpson. Junior Javi Simon netted his ninth of the season in the 26th minute while senior Jacob Peterson made five saves in goal.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
-Loras opened with a 6-2 shot advantage through the first 24 minutes before Simon broke free and slid home his ninth of the season in the 25th minute … Senior Chris Alfaro started the sequence back in Loras half and connected with Simon on a long pass before a 1-2 sequence between Broderick and Simon opened the shooting lane for the goal
-In the 35th minute, Simpson forward Garrett Pochop opened a small window and ripped a left-footed shot that prompted a save from senior goalkeeper Jacob Peterson
-The second half brought with it an 8-1 shot advantage for the Duhawks through the first 15 minutes of the second half
-In the 82nd minute, Pochop got on the end of a free kick and nearly equalized, but once again, Peterson went full extension and denied the goal-scoring opportunity

-Berardi's assist was the first for him this season and fourth of his career

FRIEDMAN GROUP PLAYER OF THE GAME - RYAN PACHOLSKI
Pacholski was taked with slowing down Simpson's career-leading goal scorer in Garrett Pochop. The Simpson striker finished with three shots on target and was held without a point for the first time since Sept. 13

UP NEXT
Loras looks to make it four in-a-row on Tuesday when it travels to face Wartburg. The Knights dropped to 3-2-1 in conference play on Saturday after a loss to Luther. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
