Duhawks Blank Luther, 2-0

DECORAH, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras men's soccer team posted its second consecutive clean sheet in conference play, defeating Luther on Sunday, 2-nil. Freshman Luke Denson tallied his first career goal in the first half and junior Marcus Singleton followed suit in the second half to provide the offense for the Duhawks.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
-It took until the 32nd minute for Loras to register a shot on target, the first of which was Denson's that proved to be the game-winner
-Following the goal, the Norse failed to register a shot over the remaining 13 minutes
-Freshman Edin Galvez nearly doubled Loras' lead in the 44th minute, only to be denied by the post
-In the opening three minutes of the second half, senior Jacob Peterson was tested twice in a span of 20 seconds, both on shots from Luther's Brunno Colon
-Less than two minutes after entering the game as a substitute, Singleton blasted home a one-timer off a cross from sophomore Liam O'Connell
-The remaining 30 minutes saw the Norse throw everything forward, resulting in five shots and five corner kicks, but Loras' back line held strong to preserve the clean sheet

-Loras is one point back of second place in the conference table
-Both goals scored on Sunday were the first of the respective players' careers
-Senior Jacob Peterson made his 50 career appearance on Sunday and ran his career record to 34-15-1 while recording his 16th clean sheet

FRIEDMAN GROUP PLAYERS OF THE GAME - LIAM O'CONNELL AND RYAN PACHOLSKI
O'Connell delivered the assist on the insurance goal and ran his season point total to two with his second assist in as many matches. Pacholski's defensive prowess and leadership worked in tandem with Peterson to secure the clean sheet.

UP NEXT
The Duhawks host Simpson on Saturday in Iowa Conference action. The Storm enter the week with a 13-0-1 record and having won their last five contests. Prior to Saturday's meeting against Loras, Simpson faces Luther at home on Tuesday. Kickoff on Saturday is set for 3:30 p.m.
