Loras Ranked No. 22 in Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings

CLEVELAND (Duhawks.com) - In the second edition of the Learfield Directors' Cup Standings, Loras finds itself ranked 22nd, second among all Iowa Conference schools.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on institution's finish in up to 18 sports, nine men's and nine women's.

Earning points for Loras in the fall was men's cross country, men's soccer and women's soccer.

The Duhawks recorded their best finish in program history at the 2017 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, finishing ninth thanks to All-American finishes from seniors Timothy Sevcik and Mason Tope. Loras repeated as NCAA Regional Championships and earned the program's fourth consecutive Iowa Conference title.

Men's soccer returned to the NCAA Tournament for the 12th time in program history after earning the IIAC's automatic bid via penalties over Luther in the conference tournament championship. Following a 4-2 win over Cal Lutheran in the first round, Loras' run came to an end in the second round, falling to No. 4 St. Thomas, 1-nil.

Women's soccer captured its second consecutive IIAC regular season title and won the tournament title along with automatic bid, advancing to the 13th NCAA Tournament in school history. The Duhawks were pegged to host the opening rounds and defeated Webster in the first round, 5-nil, before having their season ended by No. 17 Wheaton in the second round, 1-nil.

Loras is coming off its best school finish in the Learfield Directors' Cup following the 2016-17 season, in which the Duhawks ended at No. 45.
