DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras men's basketball team used a 20-0 run in the second half on Wednesday to come-from-behind and defeat Central, 82-71. Senior
Danny Quinn finished with a double-double, scoring 18 points and adding 11 rebounds.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
First Half
- Freshman Matt Dacy-Seijo opened the evening with a 3-pointer at the 19:16 mark of the first half to give the Duhawks an early lead.
- Central responded with a 13-4 run over the next 4:36 with baskets from five different players.
- The Dutch took their five-point lead and extended it to 14 with a 9-0 run after a 3-point play from Austin Glawe.
- Loras managed to cut the double-digit deficit to six at the half with a 9-4 run over the final 3:24 with five points from junior Justin Busch.
Second Half
- Out of the gates, Central ran its lead back to double-digits at 63-49 with a 13-5 run, limit the Duhawks to 2-of-8 from the floor.
- A jumper from Quinn sparked Loras' offense, resulting in a 20-0 run, resulting in the Duhawks' first lead since their opening basket.
- During the run, Loras as 10-of-13 from the floor and forced seven turnovers from the Dutch. All 10 of the Duhawks' baskets came from inside the arc and from six different players.
- Leading by six, Loras never looked back and closed the game on a 13-8 run thanks to seven points from senior Justin VanWambeke.
