WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras baseball team continued its trip in the RussMatt Invitational, falling 7-4 against Lawrence. After taking a 4-0 lead, the Vikings responded with seven unanswered runs, including six in the final two innings, to steal the victory. Junior
Danny Weis continued his hot start to the season, going 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
- The Duhawks carried their high-octane offense into Friday thanks to back-to-back RBI singles by Weis and junior Michael Muto.
- Loras tacked on another run in the bottom of the second thanks to a sacrifice fly by sophomore Austin Konagel, scoring senior Nolan Ritter from third.
- Making his second start of the season, junior Tyler Tomaka limited the Lawrence offense to one run over four innings while striking out four. The lone runner to score against Tomaka came on a wild pitch.
- Immediately after the Vikings got on the board, the Duhawks got the run back of an RBI single to left field from senior Tony Heiser.
- Junior Aidan Wojciehowski came in relief and pitched the three scoreless innings before allowing three runs in the top of the eighth off three base hits.
- Lawrence carried its rally over to the top of the ninth, scoring three more runs to take a 7-4 lead.
- Loras managed to push a baserunner into scoring position in the bottom of the ninth but was unable to manufacture a run.

Danny Weis | The Joliet Catholic prep continued his hot start to the 2017 season, going 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Weis now has 18 hits on the season to go along with six RBIs.Â

- With the loss, the Duhawks return to the .500 mark and had their three-game winning streak snapped
- Tomaka pitched the longest outing of his career, throwing four innings. His previous high was set on March 5 against Elmhurst, when he threw 2 2/3 inningsÂ
