DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's volleyball team handed its crosstown rivals their first loss of the season on Wednesday night, topping Dubuque in five sets. Senior Haley Bergan totaled 29 digs and sophomore Kelly Boge ripped off 12 kills on 23 attempts to hit .435 while adding four total blocks.

-Tied at one set a piece, Loras used four runs of three points or more to make quick work of Dubuque and take a 2-1 lead in the match
-In the fifth set, the Duhawks ran off five unanswered points to take a 9-5 lead and prompt a timeout by the Spartans … After two points by Dubuque, Loras responded with a 4-1 run to take the lead at 13-8

-Sophomore Kayla Kinney had four service aces to add to her 18 total on the season
-Boge's .435 attack percentage was a season-best for the Duhawks

Sophomore Kelly Boge found her high school connection with setter Jessalyn Roling efficiently totaled 12 kills off 23 swings. She also was a staple on defense for the Duhawks picking up one solo-block and three block assists.

The Duhawks travel to Pella for the annual IIAC-NACC Crossover Challenge on Friday and Saturday. Loras opens against MSOE at 1 p.m., followed by a 5 p.m. match against Wisconsin Lutheran.
