Duhawks Win Overtime Thriller Over Prairie Wolves

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - In what is quickly becoming one of the more intense rivalries in the Iowa Conference, the Loras men's basketball team used a 14-4 run in overtime on Wednesday to hand Nebraska Wesleyan its second loss in the last three games, 97-87. Junior Ryan DiCanio hauled in a game-high 15 rebounds and added 13 points. As a team, the Duhawks finished with 21 second chance points.

SERIES NOTABLES
- Following Wednesday's win, Loras takes a 2-1 lead in the series … Wednesday was also the first win by the home team in the series 

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
- After spotting the Prairie Wolves a 10-point lead by the 14:41 mark of the first half, Loras found its footing and fought its way back to even with a 20-12 run
- From 10:36 until 3:29 of the first half, the Duhawks crafted a 20-6 run, going 7-of-13 from the floor while holding Nebraska Wesleyan to 2-of-10 … Six different scorers combined to flip the script as Loras went from being down by five to being up by six
- The Duhawks held their largest lead of the night with 16:20 to play in the second half after a jumper by DiCanio made it 54-40 Loras
- Sure enough, the Prairie Wolves refused to quit and fought their way back, thanks largely in part to a 26-10 run that gave Nebraska Wesleyan the lead with 8:28 to go
- That was the last time the Prairie Wolves led as the Duhawks responded with an 8-0 run
- Jack Hiller's 3-pointer with a minute to play sent the teams to overtime where Loras jumped on the guns from the get-go and won comfortably, 97-87

- The Bartlett, Ill. native owned the glass on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, finishing with 15 rebounds … It's the first time this season and fourth time in his career that DiCanio's rebounding total was larger than his point total
