Men's Volleyball Clips Eagles in Home Opener

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras men's volleyball team improved to 2-0 this season on Thursday night following a 3-0 sweep of Judson. In the process, the Duhawks broke a program record with 51 kills and 47 assists in the three-set match.

SERIES NOTABLES
- Loras improves to 1-0 all-time against Judson following Thursday's win in the inaugural meeting between the two programs

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Set One
- Tied at 2-all, the Duhawks ripped off a 10-4 run, including six-straight points with junior Jake Chudzik at the service line
- Leading 15-10, junior Alfredo Lopez led a 5-0 charge that saw Loras take a 19-10 lead

Set Two
- Through the first 38 points of set two, neither team held a lead by more than four points
- With junior Austin Kuchenbecker at the line, the Duhawks opened a 22-16 advantage

Set Three
- In the final set, Loras opened on a 12-5 run and maintained a sizeable lead for a majority of the frame
- Facing match point, Judson staved off elimination for three points before sophomore Ian Walsh brought the night to a close with his fifth kill

- Loras broke a program record with 51 kills in a three-set match … Prior to Thursday, the record was 49 set against Olivet on March 19, 2016
- Additionally, the Duhawks set a new program record for assists in a set with 47, besting the previous mark of 45, which also came against Olivet on March 19, 2016

INDIVIDUAL NOTABLES
- Senior Blair Anderson set a single-match best with five assists and reached the 50-assist mark for his career
- Kuchenbecker recorded his 250th career kill on Thursday and now has 252 … The Muskego, Wis. native is hitting .667 through his first two matches
- Chudzik broke his career-high with nine kills and tied his single-match high with five digs
- Lopez broke two career milestones, recording his 500th assist and 250th kill
