Men's Soccer Drops Regular Season Finale

WHITEWATER, Wis. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras men's soccer team traveled to Whitewater for one one final tune-up before the postseason, but left on the short-end of a 4-3 decision. Manny Lopez tallied his team-leading seventh goal of the season, but three second half goals by the Warhawks proved to be the difference on Tuesday.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• Lopez came out firing sending his first shot into the back of the net,39 seconds into the match
Chris Alfaro connected with Miles McDonnell on a cross into the box, to which McDonnell headed home for his first goal of the season in the 18th minute
• The Warhawks erased the gap with goals in the 30th and 67th minute's
Javi Simon gave the Duhawks the lead back in the 69th minute after finishing the corner sent in by Tiernan Talbot
• The lead would be short-lived as UW-Whitewater found the equalizer 24 seconds later
• UW-Whitewater was shown a straight red in the 71st minute after a blatant foul to Talbot
• In the 84th minute, the Warhawks took the lead for the first time of the night and held on for the final six minutes

NOTABLES
• Loras is 3-4-0 in its last seven matches, conceding 14 goals in the span, which has largely been impacted by the absence of Ryan Pacholski from his traditional 90-minute campaigns as captain and starting defender
• The Duhawks dropped to 7-11-1 all-time against UW-Whitewater
• Alfaro reached a new season-high with his third assist of the year

After receiving a first round bye, the Duhawks open postseason play on Wednesday, Oct.31 against the winner of fourth-seeded Simpson and fifth-seeded Central. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.in the Rock Bowl.
