DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras women's volleyball team battled back from a sluggish start on Friday night to defeat Nebraska Wesleyan in four sets.
Jenna LaCorte finished with 17 kills and 11 digs to lead the Duhawk effort.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
• First 16 points of the night were split evenly before Nebraska Wesleyan ripped off a 14-5 run … During the run, Loras committed six attacking errors … The Prairie Wolves finished with five service aces in the first set
• The Duhawks opened on a 10-6 run to begin Set 2 … After a Nebraska Wesleyan timeout, Loras continued on a 15-8 run to take the second set 25-21 …
Abby Allgeyer found herself in the rotation and made the most of her call, finishing with six kills and four digs in the set
• Set three brought a halt to the high-octane offense with the Prairie Wolves finishing with a negative attack percentage while Loras put away 13 kills on 36 attempts
• Trailing 10-8 in the third, the Duhawks found their rhythm, finishing on a 17-9 run, led by four kills from LaCorte … Nine of Loras' 17 points came via kill
• The Duhawks took the lead in Set four at 2-1 and never looked back, opening a five-point spread thanks to a 7-2 run … After Nebraska Wesleyan cut the deficit to two at 22-20, Loras called a timeout to regroup, at which point maintained the upper-hand to win 25-22
